Grants.gov has published their 2009 Annual Report which details a record year of application submissions. In FY 2009 Grants.gov processed 309,771 applications which was a 53 percent increase over the 202,133 applications processed in FY 2008.
S2S submissions to Grants.gov from systems like GAMS Pre Award and FastGrant standalone are consistently shown to have a much lower rejection rate than Adobe submissions to Grants.gov, a clear benefit of using a S2S approach.
The Grants.gov Annual Report indicates that the total number of system to system (S2S) submissions to Grants.gov in FY 2009 was 30,194, with a rejection rate of only 3.4 percent. This is a 118 percent increase in S2S submissions in FY 2009 over FY 2008.
Each week, the Grants.gov blog provides a Program Management Office Status Report with a submissions recap for Adobe and S2S for the prior week at http://grants-gov.blogspot.com Statistics for the week ending 11/29/09 show an 8 percent rejection rate for Adobe submissions and a 3 percent rejection rate for S2S.
The lower rejection rate for S2S submissions is just one reason why organizations are turning to S2S approaches like GAMS Pre Award and FastGrant standalone. Other reasons include the ability to pre-populate data into the Grants.gov forms, develop detailed budgets in compliance with agency guidelines and load this budget information into the Grants.gov forms, validate the data in the Grants.gov forms before submission, electronically route and approve the proposal, etc. All of the ERA Software Systems customers submitting S2S openly state that they do not understand how institutions without S2S are handling the process.
